Method
- Chop up the shallot or spring onion into very small bits.
- Whisk the egg.
- Add the minced beef into a large mixing bowl, along with 1tsp paprika, some breadcrumbs (optional), 2 squirts of mustard, a little salt and pepper, the shallot or spring onion and the whisked egg to the meat and give everything a really good mix up.
- If you're feeling a bit kinky, chop up a few slices of red jalapeno and throw them into the mix.
- Split the meat mix into 4 balls, and then press out the balls into burger patty shapes.
- Heat up a wide-base pan with a little olive oil on a medium heat.
- Once hot, place the burger patties into the pan and leave to cook for 5-6 minutes, or until the meat looks to be browned at least halfway up the sides of each patty.
- Flip the patties over, and repeat. It is important you flip the burgers only when they are ready otherwise they can easily fall apart.
- When almost cooked, add a cheese slice to the top of each patty, and once the cheese has started to melt over them, remove the pan from the heat.
- If you're doing the Keto diet, you can use the lettuce leaves as 'bread', and add in a slice of tomato and keto-friendly sauce of your choice. If not, stack them however you like.
- Eat!
I tend to play around with the amounts of herbs and spices I use in my burger recipes a lot, so don't be shy with the amounts you use. If you're not keen on anything, just leave it out - but these are very tasty if you follow the recipe!
